Welcome to Eileen Hone Homeopath
What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a treatment of medicine which aims to help the body heal itself.
Homeopathic medicines act through stimulating the body's own defence and healing systems.
Dr Samuel Hahnemann was the founder of homeopathy over 200 years ago. He showed that a substance which produces symptoms in a healthy person could also be used to treat an ill person suffering from similar symptoms ... "like treats like."
Is it safe for you and your family?
The medicines or remedies are non-toxic and carefully chosen to be the smallest dose needed to help you start to make a change. They are taken from plants, animals or minerals.

What does treatment involves?
A Homeopath really needs to understand not just the illness but what makes a person both unique and different. I will want to hear in detail about your symptoms, how long you've had them and what makes them better or worse.
I will be interested in how you feel emotionally, ways in which you've changed, or become more or less sensitive to various influences, such as hot and cold, wet and dry atmospheres, etc. I would ask about diet, particularly foods you like and dislike or which upset you. Only when the complete picture is formed will I analyse your symptoms and prescribe a homeopathic medicine, or offer advice on an alternative course of action.
Homeopathy is a truly holistic approach to treatment. Follow up consultations will also be considered.
What is a remedy?
Remedies are derived from a variety of natural materials including plants and minerals and are prepared in licensed laboratories under strict quality control.
Medication is given in tablet, granule, powder form and in water and is available in different but extremely dilute strengths which are identified by a potency number. Choosing the right remedy at the appropriate strength is very important.
Over-the-counter remedies are usually strength 6C. This means that the substance has undergone 6 steps in a series of dilutions, where each step involves taking 1 part of the remedy and diluting it in 99 parts of alcohol.
A fascinating but as yet unexplained characteristic of homeopathic remedies is that the more dilute the remedy, the more effective it is. For example, a remedy diluted 30 times by a factor of 100 (strength 30C) is much more potent than a 6C remedy, even though it contains less than the original substance.
